Batting helmets are made to make sure that you as a player do not get hurt, whether you are at the plate in a game, or simply taking pre-game batting practice, it is important that you wear a batting helmet. If you don't, you could be seriously injured. Even players with helmets on, who get hit in the head sometimes with a baseball come up with a concussion or some sort of bruise. Most all batting helmets conform to certain regulations set by the baseball league rules, and most all batting helmets meet or exceed those minimum standards. Some batting helmets and leagues require a face guard to be attached, so check with your league on their regulations. Several helmets come with extra padding, or adjustable padding to fit certain head sizes. Always be sure that your helmet fits snug, so it does not come off running the bases.
